Andra Reece Obituary

Andra “Andy” Reece, son of the late Shirley Cummings-Thomas and Early Reece Jr., was born October 8, 1958 in Dallas, Texas. At an early age, he was baptized and made a confession of faith. Andra was involved in sports throughout school. He was gifted with athletic ability, excelling in track and field and also football. He was a wide receiver and safety for Pittsburg High School. He graduated in the Class of 1977 and embarked on a dedicated career with Tucco, working for many years as a train engineer. In 1982, he joined the United States Army. Andra was a man blessed with many talents and many joys. With a quiet, steady presence, he embraced the simple things in life. He found peace in reading and took great pleasure in the open air - whether casting a fishing line or tracking the trails on a hunt. Andra had a down-to-earth spirit and gentle way of moving through the world and touched all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Shirley Cummings-Thomas and Early Reece Jr.; paternal grandparents: Early Reece, Sr. and Zettie Mae Hollins Reece; and maternal grandparents: Katie Rene Johnson and Grady Cummings.

Andra leaves to cherish his memories, his son: Bradis Mathis, his daughter: Quisha (Anthony) Simmons, both of Pittsburg, TX; brother: Charles (Brenda) Reece of Rowlett, TX; sisters: Schela (Craig) Reece Triche of Sachse, TX; Quincina Wilson of Dallas, TX; Lakecia (Rickey) Heggar of Rockwall, TX; Katherine Gladman of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren: Keondric Simmons, Ja’karee Simmons, Cambron Granville, and Zia Mathis; seven great-grandchildren: Kashton Simmons, Kameron Simmons, Kymbrie Granville, Cambron Granville, Camden Granville, Camelo Granville, Kamillia Granville and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
