Arthur J. Dell Ray was born September 21, 1946, to the late Louie B. Ray and Emma M. Siddell Ray in Upshur County, Texas. He attended Bethlehem School and later married Geraline, his sweetheart of 57 years. Arthur was a beloved husband to Geraline and devoted father to Dionne Kuria, Auther Ray, Gerald Ray, and Jodee Ray. He was a faithful member of Mt Lebanon C.M.E. Church where he served diligently over the years. In his spare time, you would find him outside building something or planting a number of things in the garden. He could fix or rig up anything that was broken or figure out how it worked. If he couldn't fix it, it probably couldn't be fixed! He was a hardworking man who provided for his family and a loving grandfather to his grandchildren. He was a quiet, knowledgeable, funny, loving, honest man. But most importantly, he was a beloved Father who even as he took his last few breaths, left this earth with a brief smile on his face.
He is survived by his wife Geraline, daughters; Dionne L. Ray of Chester, Virginia and Jodee L. Ray of Longview, Texas; son, Gerald O. Ray (La Shundra) of Tatum, Texas; sister, Brenda Wright Jones of Duncanville, Texas; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Arthur was preceded in death by a son, Auther E. Ray, his parents, Louie and Emma Ray, and sisters, Christell Hollins, Lou Ella Hollins, Thelma Rine Ivery, and Lou Rine Cunningham.
