~The Life Story of Mr. Arvist Wright~
One of the gifts in the life of Artist and Essie Lee Wright’s union was the birth of Arvist “Bud” Wright on July 21st, 1935.
The roots of his youth were planted in the North Avenue Community. He attended and graduated from Frederick DouglasHigh School on May 24th, 1953.
His faith was nurtured at St. Stephen AME Church. There he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and he was baptized on May 2nd, 1954. He served on the steward and trustee board for many years until his health began to fail. His unwavering dedication, steadfast faith and service to St. Stephen merited his name to be engraved onto the cornerstone of the church. He also received numerous awards of recognition for his faithfulness to the church.
He found his soulmate in a young lady named Elizabeth Asberry. They were married on January 7th, 1957. From this union, they raised seven beautiful children and were blessed with the opportunity to raise and love three more children for a short period of time.
He was a loyal employee of Lone Star Steel Company for over 40 years until his retirement in 2003.
Mr. Arvist was well respected within the City of Pittsburg. He was a hardworking, humble, quiet soul, and an inspirational mentor to many young men which made a positive impact on their lives.
On June 5th, 2025, our Heavenly Father called him home to glory to be reunited with his wife, Elizabeth “Tibba” Wright once again for eternity. He was also reunited with his brothers and sister: Louie Lee Ladd, Willie James Wright, Artie Lee Wright, and Naomi Faye Asberry. His children: Lena, Norman “O’Doul”, Glenda, and Darryl Lynn, and his grandchildren: Sheketa and Cara.
