Obituary

Bobby Hue Jones passed away on February 2, 2023. The son of Harvey D. Jones and Bonnie Mae Fields was born on May 11, 1932, in Quitman, Texas. He was one of five children.  
Bobby loved learning about produce and farming techniques from his dad. Bobby graduated at 18 from Quitman Colored High in Quitman, Texas. 

He and his four siblings grew up attending church with their mother and grandparents, Andrew and Artie Sis. Fields at; Mt. Calvary Church Of God In Christ. Not long after graduation, on July 4, 1950, he gave his life to God, and he never forgot that day. In 1951, he met the love of his life, Bertha Mae Punch. Once he saw her, he said he immediately knew she would be his wife and; the mother of his children. They united in Holy Matrimony two years later and were side by side for 64 years until her untimely death.

During that same year, in 1953, he enlisted as a Corporal and was honorably discharged a few years later. In 1955, Bobby answered the call to preach God's word on September 15 in Dallas, Texas. For over 60 years, he and his wife pastored nine Church of God in Christ churches in East Texas in this order Linden C.O.G.I.C., Faith Temple C.O.G.I. C., Webster C.O.G.I.C., Big Sandy C.O.G.I.C., Cason C.O.G.I. C., Rocky Mound, C.O.G.I.C., Mt. Pleasant C.O.G.I.C., White Oak C.O.G.I.C., and Mt. Calvary C.O.G.I.C., in Quitman, where He served until his demise.
He also served as the Superintendent of the Pittsburg District, Texas Northeast Jurisdiction #2, where he served faithfully until his health began failing. While pastoring, he worked at Austin Brothers Steel Co. Dallas TX, Tyler Pipe for 15 years and Quitman I.S.D. for 25 years, but he was known around Quitman as the produce man setting up shop selling Bobby Jones' Produce.

He leaves behind his wife, Nita Jones of Sulphur Springs, Sister, Aumilda James of Dallas TX. Brother, Harvey D. Jones, of Tyler Tx. Daughter Barbara Berry of Quitman, Alvin Jones (Eileen) of Gilmer, and Carolyn Jones-Mozee (Thomas) of New Albany, Indiana.  Nine Grandchildren; Kimberly, Angela, VaNedra, VanDawn, Ashton, Ayuna, Diamonique, Aiden, Dionis, and six great-grandchildren; Trinity, Michael, Christopher, Peyton, Tyler, and Dior and one Goddaughter, Deborah. He was preceded in death by his parents: Harvey D. Jones and Bonnie Mae Fields, wife Bertha Jones, Brother Andrew Lewis Jones, Son Howard Jones, and Daughter Felecia Jones.
