Carl Felton Ray

Carl F. Ray was born on September 28, 1937, to Arthur Lee and Bessie Ray in Gilmer Texas. He attended Public School of Upshur County.  Carl accepted Christ and joined Mt. Lebanon C.M.E. Church. Carl spent much of his free time fishing, hunting, and horseback riding. If you knew Carl, then you knew he lived life to the fullest. Carl would do anything for his family and friends and never met a stranger.  Carl had a couple jobs during life which included the railroad and Pulp wood, until he retired. Carl is predeceased by his former wife Vesta Ray, and he is survived by his special companion Ms. Ruby.

On October 2, 2022, Carl Ray, answered the call of the Lord saying come unto me and take thy rest. Preceding Carl in death is his father Arthur Lee Ray, mother Bessie Ray, his grandparents, daughter Cynthia Ray, bonus daughter Lois Jones Myers, granddaughter Whitney Ray, great-granddaughters Brooklyn Henley and Re’al Johnson, brothers, Lawrence Ray Sr.  and George “Doc” Ray and sisters Mrs. Mable White and Mrs. Ethell McGill.

He leaves to cherish his memories four sons, Carl Ray (Lisa) of Fort Worth TX, Kelvin Ray (Angela)of Gilmer TX, Felder Ray of Pittsburg TX, and Cary Ray (Tyra) of Gilmer TX; one Sister Mrs. Alma Simon of Fort Worth TX, 34 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren, 19 great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Our family is grateful to know that Carl is finally at peace.
