Dennis Lavell Simmons Sr.

Dennis Lavell SIMMONS, SR. “Vel”
Mr. Dennis Lavell Simmons, Sr. was born July 2, 1938, to Mr. Johnnie and Mrs. Corine Simmons
in Pittsburg, Texas. At an early age he joined Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and
attended school at Center Point School. Vel was preceded in death by his parents Johnnie
Simmons and Corine Rogers Simmons; Four brothers Bonnie Ray, Billy James, Charles Edward,
Willie D, and his sister Johnnie Mae Simmons. Vel married Cynthia Smith and had one son.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son Dennis Lavell Simmons, Jr., daughters Renee,
Kristi, Detra; Brother McArthur and Barbara Simmons of Pittsburg, TX; Sister Minerva and Cal
Williamson of Waynesville, MO; 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grand
child, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends
