Elvin “Fox” Taylor, Jr. was born in Leesburg, Texas to the union of Elvin Taylor, Sr. and Vera Reliford on June 22, 1929. He was a member of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Texas. He graduated from Fredrick Douglass High School in Pittsburg, Texas. After high school with a desire to serve his country, Elvin joined the United States Army where he served his country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Elvin “Fox” Taylor, Jr. passed away October 17, 2024 at the Hospice of East Texas, Tyler, Texas. There are those he leaves to cherish his memories, his sons, Kenneth Taylor, (Pamela), of Wichita, Kansas; Elvin Montrese Brown of Desoto, Texas; his daughters, Linda Rockwell (Alvin), of Cason, Texas; Reverend Karen Myres Harris of Fort Worth, Texas; grandsons, Marcus Taylor, Kenny Taylor, Jr., Melvin Randle, and Gaylen Taylor, all of Wichita, Kansas; granddaughters, Cassandra Taylor of Wichita, Kansas and Nakia Gales of Dallas, Texas; fourteen great grandchildren, twelve great, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended families, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elvin Taylor, Sr. and Vera Reliford, grandparents, Henry and Harriet Taylor, brothers, Aubrey Taylor, O.C. Taylor, Levester Taylor, Horace Taylor; sisters, Erma Dorsey, Ema Burrell, Era Taylor Freeman, Ruby Lynn Taylor, Annie Lee Ross, and Inez Taylor.
