In Cass County, Marietta, Texas, on October 19, 1959, Emery Glendale Nickleberry was the third son born to the parents of Alton and Willie Mae Johnson Nickleberry. He was a respectful child in his growing up years. He accepted Christ at an early, united with Bethlehem Baptist Church and was baptized. He participated in youth activities.
Emery attended public schools in Marietta and Hughes Springs, Texas. He later attended McKinney Job Corps in McKinney, Texas where he graduated after earning a certificate in Meat Cutting.
Emery had a short career as a meat cutter at Supreme Beef in Dallas, Texas. His passion led him to the great outdoors. He was employed by H. W. Concrete in Marietta, Texas as a Concrete Finisher and worked until his health failed. He also did small plumbing jobs and provided handyman services when called upon. He was very helpful to his father who raised cattle. His passion also included a love for classic cars, hunting, and spending time with relatives and friends in the Bethlehem community.
Emery is preceded in death by his father, Alton Nickleberry. He passed away October 5, 2022, at his home in Marietta, Texas.
He leaves to cherish his memories: mother, Willie Mae Nickleberry; sisters, Rachel McClendon and Lucretia Bibbs (Randolph); brothers, Howard Nickleberry (Donna) and Gralon Nickleberry (Faye); a cousin, Mark Warren (Pam) who grew up in the home; nieces, Nicole Nickleberry, Kimberly McClendon, Brittney Durojaiye (Eric), Jasmine Bibbs, Ashley Bibbs; great niece, L’Naya Neroes; great nephew, Elijah Durojaiye; and a host of relatives and friends.
