Gwendolyn Elaine Davis was born in Denver, Colorado to the union of Richard Harris and Mary Jo Walker Davis on February 21, 1957. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age, and was baptized at New Life Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California. She began her early educational years at Frederick Douglass High School in Pittsburg, Texas. The Davis Family later relocated to El Paso, Texas where Gwen resumed her education, and the Davis Family eventually settled down in Los Angeles, California. She continued her education in the Los Angeles School District, graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School. Upon completion of High School with the desire to serve her country, Gwen joined the United States Army where she earned the rank of Sergeant and served in many foreign countries. After twenty plus years, she retired, and respectfully entered into the Army Reservist, simultaneously being employed by Mc Donald Douglas Aircraft where she was employed for many years.
Gwen passed away December 16, 2023, at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas.
There are those she leaves to cherish her memory, her brother, Rexford Davis, of Pittsburg, Texas, Her sister, Yolande Davis, of Los Angeles, California. Aunt Dorothy Davis, of Tallulah, Louisiana, cousin (lovingly referred to as) Aunt Jerry Keyser, Godson, Jaleel Pierce, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Harris and Mary Jo Walker Davis, and Mama Louise Davis, grandparents, Chester and Lavada Birdine Davis, Jerry and Lucinda Wright Walker, sister, Lavada Davis, brothers, Ivan A. Davis, Richard Davis, Jr., and Trent Martin Mays.
