Helen Lena President Thomas

Mrs. Helen Lena President Thomas was born May 13, 1931, to the parentage of Reggie and Clara Dalcour President in Mont Belvieu, Texas. At an early age, she joined the church in her community and after marriage, she joined North Avenue United Methodist Church in Pittsburg, Texas. She graduated from George Washington Carver High School in Baytown, Texas and later graduated from Texas College in Tyler, Texas. During her educational career, she earned her Texas Certified Teacher’s Certificate. Her favorite hobbies were cooking, sewing, fishing, and being around family and friends.

She was married to Reverend Darnell D. Thomas for over seventy-one years and to this union, no children were born. Mrs. Thomas passed away at her home in Pittsburg, Texas, on June 27, 2023. She leaves to cherish her memories, stepson, Bruce Thomas (Deanna), of Phoenix, AZ; step grandchildren, Mark Thomas, Lorenzo Mojica, Stephanie Thomas, and Dahlia Concholar; three sisters, Bobbie Hamilton and Elsie Eames of Baytown, TX; and Gladys Williams of San Antonio, TX; nephew, Lowell Thomas (Barbara) of Longview, TX and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Darnell D. Thomas, parents, Reggie and Clara President, stepson, Darnell Thomas, Jr., brother, Reggie President, Jr., aunts and uncles.
