James Credell Taylor was born to Aubrey Taylor and Berthenia Rogers Taylor of May 20, 1927, Pittsburg, Texas.
From approximately age 10, he was raised by his maternal aunt, Rosie Mae Arthur.
He was a 1945 graduate of Frederick Douglass High School, where he excelled in all sports and academics. After his military service, he attended and graduated from Texas College, Tyler, Texas.
He joined the US Navy in July 1945, serving in WW ll. He later enlisted in the US Air Force in June, 1950, serving in the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge, as an Airman 1st Class, in November 1954.
He retired from the US Postal Service, Dallas, as a Letter Carrier, in August 1987.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church during those early years. He was a faithful member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, serving as an ordained deacon, until his health began to decline.
He slept his way, peacefully, into the arms of Jesus on July 8, 2024, at the Watkins-Logan VA Home, Tyler ,Texas.
His sons, Gregory Robertson and Maquesta Taylor, preceded him in death. His brother, Robert Lee Luster, also preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his passing: Daughter—Carolyn Taylor Smith, Hurst, TX and Miceanne Taylor, Dallas, TX. An uncle, Mr. Elvin “Fox” Taylor, Pittsburg, TX.A special cousin, Ethel Lee Smith, California. And a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
