Jannett Hailey Stewart was born on December 21, 1939, to Goldie Montgomery Hailey and Woodie Hailey in Pittsburg, Texas.
Jannett attended Frederick Douglass High School in Pittsburg where she excelled in track, advancing all the way to Regionals. After graduating in 1958, she entered the workplace where she was in the healthcare field for over 40 years and in 1967 became the wife of her sweetheart Jimmy Lee Stewart.
From an early age, Jannett displayed a remarkable spirit of compassion. She dedicated her life to serving others, displayed through her career as an aide and her involvement while attending North Avenue United Methodist Church while being the church pianist. Jannett was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed attending the North Avenue Card Parties.
She had an open door for her children and grandchildren. They always knew home was directly through moma and grandma’s door. Jannett was a guiding light to her family, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her lessons and teachings will live on through each one of them. The queens journey ended on October 31st and she is now at peace with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jannett is survived by her seven children, Ronnie Hailey, Derlin Nesbitt, Evern Mosely (Glenn), Sonja Stewart, Jimmy Stewart (Gwendolyn), Trina Hawkins (Cedric), and Tina Stewart; grandchildren, Delwyn, Latesha, LaRhonda, Eric, Rashad, Derlin, Khira, Dominic, Darri’el, Karaveon, Chuntania, Quintin, Jasmine, Cymone, Joshua, Sheridan, Adrianna, Erica, and Malachi; siblings, Lille B. Nelms, Donna Robinson, Joe Hailey (Brenda) and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Lee Stewart, mother, Goldie Hailey, daughter, Mitzi Hailey and grandson Ty’Keithian Woods.
