Keynan Jerae “Slim Boogie” Ellis was born on September 22, 1981, in Pittsburg, Texas, to Jessie Ellis and Wanda Nnadozie. From the beginning, his life reflected strength, individuality, and a deep love for family.
Keynan received his education in Pittsburg, Texas, and was a proud attendee of Pittsburg High School. Known affectionately as “Slim Boogie,” he was remembered for his distinctive presence, warm spirit, and the meaningful connections he formed with those around him.
On December 15, 2025, he transitioned from this earthly life in Dallas, Texas. While his physical presence is no longer with us, his legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.
Keynan leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughter, Char’Kenan Ellis; his cherished granddaughter, Kaylor Ellis; his sister, Lawanda Ivory; his nieces, Amiyah Ivory and Aubrey Whitaker; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Ellis; his mother, Wanda Nnadozie; his sister, Charlotte Searcy; his grandfather, Wesley Ivory; and his grandmother, Charlie Mae Ivory.
Keynan Jarae “Slim Boogie” Ellis will forever be remembered for the love he gave, the joy he brought, and the lasting impact of his life. Though we mourn his passing, we rejoice in knowing that God’s grace is sufficient and His promises are sure.
