Kheryl Yvette Gholston Doddy was born May 30, 1960 in the small rural town of Cason, Texas to the parentage of Lawrence James (LJ) and Eddie Ree Gholston. She was reared in a Christian home, and confessed Christ at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Kay, as she was affectionately known, attended and graduated from the public schools in Daingerfield in the Spring of 1978. The following year, Kay married Billy Doddy. Together, they shared 44 years of marriage.
Kay was employed for many years at Pilgrim's Pride. During her retirement, she was able to spend her time with her grandsons, Gavin and Tristan. She looked forward to attending their weekly football games. Kay became "OG Granny" to the boys and she was their greatest supporter. In addition to her affection for football was her love for baseball, and basketball. Along with a beautiful smile, and a joyful Spirit one would get belt busting laughter and a whole lot of trash talking on the domino table. Kay believed in letting her ''Natural Light" SHINE!
Kay is preceded in death by her siblings, Ronald Dale Gholston, Sandra Cheatum, Jackwelyn Lachelle Lewis, and son-in-love, Robert Woodson.
On September 7, 2023 Kay Doddy entered rest surrounded by her family. Left with lingering memories include her beloved daughter, Tonya Woodson (Derrick Hanley); her son, Billy Doddy (Tamra); grandsons, Gavin Oneal Woodson and Tristan Doddy; parents, Lawrence James and Eddie Ree Gholston; brother, Dale Gholston; nephews, Stevie Gholston, Gary Gholston, Jarrod Gholston, and Darryl Lewis; nieces, Demitra Williams, Mary Cooks, Latasha Gholston, Jasmine Austin, and Sylvia Crockett; a host great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly; a host of other relatives and friends.
