Lisa Ray Obituary

Lisa Michelle Roney Ray was born on January 21, 1961. Lisa is the ninth child of the late Reverend Charlie Roney and the late Mrs. Vivian Delois Peoples Roney.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Lisa was a beautiful person with a beautiful heart. She was well loved by both her family, her spouse’s family, and friends.

Lisa graduated from Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, TX with the class of 1979.She continued her education at Texas Tech University.

At an early age, she joined Metropolitan Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Texas with her parents and siblings. She also participated in the youth choir.

Lisa worked hard and moved to Dallas in her early teens. She began working in the insurance industry and later began a career at Lew Sterrett Justice Center where she was employed for 20 years.

Lisa married her husband of 24 years, Carl Ray, on December 29, 2000. They moved to Kansas where Lisa worked at a bank. She and her husband returned to Texas in 2007, where she began working for the City of Ft. Worth. She remained employed there as a Level 1 Certified Clerk until her death.

Lisa departed this life on May 21, 2024.  Her parents, Reverend Charlie Roney and Mrs. Vivian Delois Peoples Roney preceded her in death, along with siblings: Charlie Ann Ray, Alvin Roney, Barry Roney, and Deborah Roney, and two step-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Re’al.

She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Carl Ray, her children, Delwyn Roney of Lancaster, Texas, and  LaRhonda Edwards (Tommie) of Cedar Hill, Texas; four grandchildren, Donnecia, Jalen, Ava and Dominic; four great-grandchildren,  Angel, Jayce, Mygeish, Jr. and Grayson; four siblings, Gerraine Benson, Joanette Bryant (Sullivan), Charlie Roney, Jr., and Debbie Montgomery; step children, Keisha, Karla, Derrick (Latasha) Carl II (Tyisha); step-grandchildren,  Karma, Torance, Taleaya, Tyra, G’avonni, Taiya, Dashira, KeAndre’, Dewayne, Jr, Royal, Shyne, and Darrius, and step great-grandchildren, Legend, Maliyah, Maylani and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
