Robert Earl Searcy was born on August 2, 1940, in Pittsburg, Texas, to the late Charlie Mae Ivory and O.B. Traylor. He entered eternal rest on October 29, 2025, at Focused Care of Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Robert received his education at Frederick Douglass in Pittsburg, where he grew up embraced by a loving family and a tight-knit community.
His foundation of faith began at Springhill Baptist Church in Pittsburg. He later united with Mt. Gilmore Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Throughout his life, Robert was known for his strong work ethic, gentle spirit, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. His presence made others feel seen, valued, and supported. Robert was a man of quiet strength and deep conviction, shaped by faith and guided by love. He created a legacy with two former wives, Odell Armour and Elizabeth Jeffery (preceded him in death), who each shared meaningful chapters of life with him.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Charlie Mae Ivory and O.B. Traylor; brothers: Theodore Searcy, Charlie E. Searcy, and Raymond L.. Searcy; sisters: Maurine Carlock, Mary Ivory, Wanda Nnandozie, and Brenda Evans; son: Joey Earl Searcy; and grandchildren: Kimmian J. Landing and Joey E. Searcy, II who welcomed him into God’s eternal care.
He leaves to mourn his passing: daughters, Robbie (Darrell) Whetstone and Mary Jane (LaCress) Veal, both of Grand Prairie, Texas, Kimberly (Joseph) Landing of Pittsburg, Texas, Linda Frida and Lora Nesbitt, both of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Vickie Johnson of Killeen, Texas, Elouise Jeffery of Mt. Vernon, Texas, and Ola Nesbitt of Longview, Texas; sons: Kenneth Searcy of Longview, Texas, James Hurndon of Temple, Texas, Kelvin Nesbitt of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and John Jeffery of Mt. Vernon, Texas; sisters: Linda Searcy of Tyler, Texas, Carnetha Ivory of Longview, Texas, and Wesley Nance of Pittsburg, Texas; brothers: Eugene (Joann) Searcy of Pittsburg, Texas, Robert Charles Ivory of Mineola, Texas, and Gary (Christy) Ivory of Red Oak, Texas well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
