In loving memory, of our mother, Sharon “Penny” Nell Farmer, who was born to the late Norris Farmer and the late Ethel Gilbert-Williamson in Pittsburg, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Sharon attended Frederick Douglas and Pittsburg High School, where she was a graduate of the Class of 1971. After graduating, she entered the workforce and retired from East Texas Medical Center after 30 years of employment. During retirement, Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family, playing the penny slots, and rooting on the Dallas Cowboys.
Sharon is preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Gilbert-Williamson; father, Norris Farmer; sister, Sherry Farmer-Jones; brother-in-law, Donnie Davis; and sister-in-law, Minerva Williamson. She entered eternal rest on January 20, 2023, in Springfield, MO, with her youngest daughter, Ukena “Kizzy” Farmer, and brother-in-law, Steve Figgins.
Sharon is survived by her two daughters: Chekita Royal (Timothy) and LaTara Hornsby (Kevin), both of Pittsburg, TX. Her son Kevin Farmer (Tracey) of Little Elm, TX. Three brothers, Mack Williamson of St. Roberts, MO; Xavier Williamson of Los Angeles, CA and Antonio Williamson of Desoto, TX. Nine sisters, Joyce Davis, and Priscilla Rodgers, both of Pittsburg, TX; Melissa Durley (Buck) of Stanton, CA; Angela Groden (Saline) of Mesquite, TX; Janice Figgins of Missouri City, TX; Pamela Taylor of Lancaster, TX; Margaretta Farmer of Plano, TX; Wanda McBeth (Patrick) and Bridget Farmer both of Dallas, TX. Stepmother Ruth Farmer of Pittsburg, TX. Eight grandchildren: Markevian, Jazmine, Kaymon (Edith), Brittany, Malik, Jacquez, Raven, and Jathan. Three great-granddaughters, Breana, Karleigh, and Khloe, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
