Tamala Henderson Obituary

Tamela Wynette Willis-Henderson was born to the late Willie James Morton (Shane) and Velma Rae Willis Henderson on April 18, 1972, in Pittsburg, TX. She was the wife of Vernon Eugene Henderson.

Tamela accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Como First Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Jones Jr. Tamela graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1990 and later attended Phoenix University.

To those of you who knew her best, Tamela was “Gunnie”, a childhood nickname that we still called her throughout her adulthood. She was also called Tammy Crocker because she loved to baked different goods like cakes, pies, cookies or other sweet treats. Tamela was so gifted and talented, a true jack of all trades. She loved to keep her hands busy making different crafts like flower arrangements, t-shirts, personalized gifts for others and so much more. Tamela found joy in serving others through her many gifts and talents.

Tamela departed this life on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. She was preceded in death by her father Willie James Morton and her mother Velma Rae Willis, grandmothers Lula Marie Willis and Bervia Mae Martin and grandfathers Willie K. Willis and William Henry Morton.

Tamela leaves to cherish her memories: her husband Vernon Henderson, her sons Tevin Brown, Demarquest Henderson, and Tristan Henderson; daughter and son in law ,Mechundra Handy and Joshua Bennett; mother-in-law Melody Henderson; grandchildren Kayden Brown, Kennedy Brown, Grace Brown, Meadow Brown, Micah Brown, Laniyah Bennett, Jakobi Bennett, and JaKayden Bennett; sisters, Antuan Willis-Martin (Dwayne), Lorene Mitchell (Bobby), Felicia Morton (Jequan) and Shamonica Morton; brothers Daniel Henderson (Jasmine); Christopher Henderson; brothers-in-law Quincy Henderson and Brian Henderson; aunts: Eliza Bell Willis; Nannie Paredes (Pedro); Bonnie Willis; Clara Guel/Willis, Linda Willis; Hazel Dickson; Evelyn Knight; Zelma Durley; uncle: Monroe Willis (Stephanie); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
