Thomas Wendell Simmons was born on November 28 in Pittsburg, Texas, to the late Lizzie Mae Simmons. He was one of three siblings and spent his life in Pittsburg, Texas, where he attended school. From a young age, Thomas worked at Pilgrim’s Pride in Pittsburg. He was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and never missed a game. Although he could neither hear nor speak, Thomas was always keenly aware of everything happening around him. His love for his family was evident, and that love was returned wholeheartedly. On March 1, 2025, Thomas passed away at Pittsburg Nursing Center after a short stay. He leaves to cherish his memory his guardian and niece, Donna Craddock of Pittsburg, TX; his brother, Charles George (Norma); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Thomas is preceded in death by his mother, Lizzie Mae Simmons; his sister, Lizzie Lue Cheatum; his brother-in law, J.C. Cheatum; and his nephews, Richard Craddock and Ronald Lawton. Thomas will be remembered for his quiet strength, his unwavering loyalty to his loved ones, and his passion for football. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
