He attended the great Frederick Douglass Elementary School through the fourth grade. Travis completed Elementary, Junior High, and High School in the Pittsburg Independent School District. He was a life-long member of St. Beulah CME Church where he was very active in Sunday School and Christian Youth Fellowship activities.

After High School, Travis attended East Texas State University now (TAMU Commerce) and completed his Bachelor of Science degree at the Great Jarvis Christian College (University)

Zelma Morton caught Travis' eye and to this union, Travis and Amber were born. Travis was always thinking of others first and that led to teaching jobs at Madison High School in Houston and at Jarvis Christian College

TC had his fill of Houston and relocated back to Pittsburg. After recalibration, reenergizing, and refocusing, Travis relocated to Dallas.

At the urging of Tonya Allen, Travis applied for and was hired by the US government with the Census Bureau, He was gainfully employed by the Census Bureau for over 20 years. Travis, recalibrated, re-energized, and refocused in the early 2000s, as employment at the Census Bureau caused a cross-national relocation to sunny California. Due to a decline in health, Travis retired early January 2024. Travis fought hard and long but he was unable to recalibrate, nor could he re-energize from his declining health, but on June 6, 2024, Travis was able to relocate to a building not made by hands.
